Specialist Skills & Expertise
Susan has extensive experience with the adult and child head injured population & her particular clinical interest is complex head injured patients with low level awareness or behavioural problems.
Having worked in in-patient neuro rehabilitation for both statutory services and the private sector, Susan was frustrated at the lack of community based services for her patients on discharge and established the Practice in 1998.
Susan quickly recognised the demand for a specialist community neurology service, and has carefully selected the growing team members for their clinical contribution and personal attributes. Susan has developed an understanding of the role of the treating therapist in the medico-legal processes and the needs of the case manager and the litigator and she is constantly evolving the Practice to meet this demand.
Recognising that the key to effective rehabilitation was finding bespoke services and activities to suit the patient’s needs. Susan and with 2 other colleagues set up the North West Acquired Brain Injury Network in 2006, which is open to any public, voluntary and private sector service for persons living with ABI in the North West.
