Our Therapy Assistant recently attended a Bobath course on ‘Neurological Rehabilitation for Physiotherapy Assistants’, to increase understanding of the principles behind balance and movement control. The course covered postural management and adjuncts to treatment, and had a large practical element working to improve movement skills and ability to facilitate more efficient movement patterns in neurological patients.
The course was extremely useful – helping her to become more in tune with her own movement strategies, which in turn helps her to understand and facilitate movement in her patients. She has gained a greater understanding of the clinical reasoning behind her treatments, and of how to mazimise her patients’ potential for movement, and she has already begun putting her new skills into practice.
