Jayne Hallford, one of our experienced Physiotherapists, has been adding to her Bobath expertise by taking part in Continuing Professional Development. In February 2013 she attended a 2-day course “An introduction to the principles of treatment for ataxia”. The course was led by Lynne Fletcher, Advanced Bobath Tutor, and held at the Neurological Teaching Centre in Manchester. The course began by outlining the theory behind ataxia, including a recap of the role of the cerebellum, before practical sessions and insightful patient demonstrations. Jayne found that the course really helped her to review her clinical reasoning skills and hypothesis generation, and provided her with plenty of new ideas for her to use in her treatment sessions and handling skills with patients.
