Measuring progress and keeping SMART!

As a Practice, we are focussed on making sure that we are able to monitor the success of our patients, and do so by setting and monitoring SMART goals. To ensure that we continue to review our goal setting and how SMART goals are set and measured across the team, Jayne Hallford and Heather Preston attended Continuing Professional Development courses in March 2013. The “Goal Attainment Scaling Workshop” was held at Stewarts Law in Leeds, and was co-organised by Recolo. The course tutors were Steffi Skalla, Specialist Physiotherapist in Neurological Rehabilitation, and Dr Peter Tucker, Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Neuropsychology. This was an interesting day looking at  the process of goal setting, how to audit goal setting and how to ensure consistency with SMART goals between different therapists of different disciplines for the same patient.

Jayne (Physiotherapist) and Heather (Occupational Therapist) will present their findings at our forthcoming Team CPD Challenge day on Record Keeping, to be held on Friday. They hope that their findings will help us to review our goal setting and how we set SMART goals as a multidisciplinary team.
