First Yorkshire ABI Network: A Resounding Success

In a landmark event for the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) community, the first Yorkshire ABI Network (YABIN) convened on October 20th, drawing together over 60 professionals from various disciplines dedicated to serving individuals affected by acquired brain injuries.

YABIN aims to bridge the gap between various stakeholders in the field, fostering an environment of knowledge-sharing and mutual support. Attendees came from diverse backgrounds including neurological psychologists, case managers, solicitors, therapists, caregivers, patients, charities, equipment providers and more.

The event was a resounding success, creating a platform for catching up on the latest developments in the field, establishing new connections with professionals in the industry and showcasing the depth of knowledge and passion within the ABI community. Networking opportunities were abundant, with attendees exchanging contact information and discussing potential collaborations on projects and initiatives. The event also showcased technological advancements and resources available to the ABI community.

Gary Kelsall, an IT specialist from Cyber Spider LTD providing cyber security solutions for individuals with traumatic brain injury and similar conditions commented ‘’A wonderful opportunity to meet all the people we deal with every day but never quite manage to meet! Made some new contacts as well. Splendid!’’

The success of the Yorkshire ABI Network is also reflected in the Network’s steadfast commitment to raising funds for local charities. With unwavering determination, attendees rallied together and raised over £500 for the invaluable charities, Headway Rotherham and Headway Huddersfield. The funds raised will undoubtedly go a long way in providing essential resources, rehabilitation, and support for individuals and families navigating the complexities of acquired brain injuries. We are proud to have played a role in supporting these vital local organizations.

Ewan Bain, chair of Headway Rotherham and solicitor at Swatilskis, expressed his excitement about the event and gratitude for the funds raised towards local Headway charities. ‘’Fantastic get together with like-minded professionals from the brain injury world. Really lovely to catch up with familiar faces and meet new ones. All for a great cause as well, for which Headway Rotherham are extremely grateful for.’’

The Yorkshire Acquired Brain Injury Network stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the potential for positive change when driven by a shared purpose. With thanks to the generous support of the sponsors; SP Therapy Services, Rehabilitate Therapy LTD and Social Return whose contribution played a pivotal role in bringing this event to life.
